Veneers in Tamarac

One of the most popular cosmetic dental improvements we offer is porcelain veneers, which can improve the appearance of your smile in just two visits to Gentle Dentistry. Dr. Hilali and Dr. Santana can use veneers to camouflage crooked, yellowed, cracked, or even chipped teeth with one treatment plan that can last for years.

What are Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells made of porcelain or composite resin placed over the front of your natural teeth to improve their appearance. The veneers are bonded permanently to the teeth and can correct several different imperfections, including teeth that are:

  • Chipped or cracked
  • Discolored
  • Misaligned
  • Unevenly worn
  • Pitted
  • Misshapen
  • Teeth with gaps

Will dental veneers look like normal teeth?

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

Types of Veneers

There are three popular types of veneers available, each with its own unique benefits and considerations:

Porcelain Veneers

These are the gold standard of veneers. They are durable, stain-resistant, and highly natural-looking, with a translucence that mimics natural dental enamel. Porcelain veneers require two visits to our office. During the first visit, we grind down the outer layer of the tooth’s surface and create a mold to design the veneers. Once the custom veneers are ready, you return to have them cemented into place.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are made of resin, which is more affordable but less durable than porcelain. However, they are still quite natural-looking and are a viable option for anyone on a budget. The composite resin is applied to your teeth in very thin layers after the teeth are etched to improve adhesion. The resin is then sculpted into shape and hardened with a special light.

No-Prep Veneers

No-Prep Veneers are also made of porcelain but require minimal tooth reduction, making them a less invasive option. Only the outermost enamel layer is removed, and the veneers can often be placed in one visit.

The Veneer Process

Consultation: We assess your needs and discuss options.

Preparation: We remove a small amount of enamel and take impressions to create your veneers.

Fabrication: The custom veneers are crafted in our dental lab, ensuring a perfect fit and natural look.

Placement: On a return visit, Dr. Hilali or Dr. Santana bonds the veneers to your natural teeth, creating a flawless smile.

How Long do Veneers Last?

With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10-15 years. Good oral hygiene, avoiding excessive pressure on teeth, and regular dental visits help extend their lifespan. Do not use your teeth to open packages, and try not to bite your nails or chew on pens or other hard objects, including ice.
